Italy regional updates: school heat concerns and rent subsidies
Various regional and local administrative updates are being reported across Italy. In Sicily, the consumer association Codacons has called for urgent interventions to address excessive heat in classrooms. Secretary Francesco Tanasi emphasized that students and teachers should not be forced to work in overheated environments and urged school administrators to monitor microclimatic conditions.
In Emilia-Romagna, the regional government has announced that applications for the 2026 rent subsidy will be open from September 22 to October 20. Eligible applicants must have an ISEE below €8,000 and an active lease in the region, excluding Bologna. Meanwhile, in Reggio Emilia, Confedilizia has proposed extending regulated rent agreements to commercial properties to combat the decline of local shops.
Other local developments include Vallecrosia al Mare implementing a new school canteen service focused on organic products and higher quality ingredients, with the municipality absorbing part of the cost increase. In Varese, the ‘Sport for All’ initiative has reopened, offering free sports courses to families with an ISEE under €20,000.
