Emilia-Romagna infrastructure: Forlì park redevelopment and Riccione coastal protection
Various infrastructure and environmental protection projects are underway in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.
In Forlì, the Ronco Lido park is being transformed into a multi-sport facility following damage from the May 2023 floods. Funded largely by the PNRR with a total investment of 2.9 million euros, the project includes padel and tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, an adventure park, and a pedestrian path. The site aims to reintegrate the area into the urban fabric after years of abandonment.
In Riccione, authorities have begun constructing winter sand dunes to protect the coastline from storm surges and erosion. These natural barriers, created using sand from the shoreline, will protect the coast between Zone 1 and Zone 49 throughout the winter months. Further beach replenishment is planned for early 2027, involving the movement of thousands of cubic meters of sand to reinforce the southern and northern sections of the coast.
