Emiliano Martínez rescued from mud in Sierra de los Padres, locals receive his gift

Heavy rains left rural roads in Sierra de los Padres, Argentina, impassable, trapping two trucks in mud. One vehicle belonged to national team goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, who was attempting to aid a friend. Local residents Leonardo Albarracín, his son Ramiro, and others arrived on a motorcycle, recognized Martínez and helped free the trucks. Using a knife to cut rope ties, additional tools, and a small tractor Martínez fetched, they worked for more than three hours to extricate both vehicles.

Martínez thanked the Albarracín family repeatedly, saying, “We saved you,” and expressed admiration for their humanity. Before leaving, he presented Leonardo with his official Argentina shirt and a jacket as an unexpected gift, prompting an emotional reaction. The incident highlighted the goalkeeper’s humility and the solidarity of the rural community.
