Emilia‑Romagna launches digital platform for citizen participation

The Regional Council of Emilia‑Romagna has launched “Decidiamo Emilia‑Romagna”, an online platform designed to involve residents in the creation of public policies. Built on the open‑source Decidim software used by many Italian and foreign administrations, the portal lets users submit proposals, join public debates, answer questionnaires, and vote in online consultations.

The platform is also available to municipalities and local agencies, which can open their own consultation pathways for residents. The first activity, the “Luogo al cambiamento” consultation, runs until 10 September and seeks ideas for future regional policies. Regional President Michele de Pascale highlighted that the tool simplifies and makes participation more transparent, reinforcing the region’s tradition of civic dialogue. Development was coordinated by the President’s Office and the Participation team, with technical support from Pares and data‑analysis work by Art‑Er.
