Emilia‑Romagna region supports mayors' anti‑mafia request to Italy's top judicial council

The president of the Emilia‑Romagna region, Michele de Pascale, and the regional assessor for legality, Elena Mazzoni, have voiced backing for the mayors of the region’s provincial capitals who called on the Superior Council of the Judiciary to adopt criteria aligned with recent court rulings and parliamentary anti‑mafia reports. They highlighted that judicial investigations, such as the Aemilia case, and parliamentary commission findings show organised crime has a national dimension and is now entrenched in central‑northern Italy.

De Pascale and Mazzoni stressed the need for the Council to consider the evolving nature of mafia activity even in areas not traditionally seen as high‑density crime zones, noting the direct impact on local communities and social fabric. The regional government pledged continued cooperation with all competent authorities to reinforce legality and democratic stability in the north.
