Emilio Nsue retires from professional football

Emilio Nsue, a prominent figure in Equatorial Guinean football, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. His career spanned more than two decades, during which he played for various clubs in Spain, England, and Cyprus, including Real Sociedad, Middlesbrough, Birmingham City, Apollon Limassol, and APOEL Nicosia.

Nsue is the all-time leading goalscorer for the Equatorial Guinea national team, known as the Nzalang Nacional, with 23 goals. He gained significant continental recognition during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where he won the Golden Boot after scoring five goals, including a hat-trick against Guinea-Bissau and a brace against the host nation.
