Emilios Cheilakis discusses shift from perfectionism to workaholism
Greek actor Emilios Cheilakis has shared his personal perspective on perfectionism and the pursuit of flawless results in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Discussing his recent theatrical collaboration with Athina Maximou and Antoni Myriagos, Cheilakis explained his decision to distance himself from the constant hunt for perfection.
He noted that perfectionism often acts as a hindrance, preventing individuals from finding satisfaction in their achievements. Cheilakis described perfectionists as living in a “universe of dissatisfaction” and stated, “I no longer want things to be perfect. I am not interested. I am interested in the journey and reaching the destination.”
Reflecting on his past, the actor admitted he was previously influenced by external expectations and a drive for absolute perfection. However, he realized that because perfection is subjective and criticism varies, the pursuit is often futile. He concluded that he now prefers to reward himself and enjoy the process rather than being trapped by the unattainable standards of others.
