Emily Osment requested intimacy coordinator on Young Sheldon

In a new oral history of the series, ‘Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy’, actress Emily Osment revealed she requested an intimacy coordinator for kissing scenes with co-star Montana Jordan.

Osment, who played Mandy McAllister, cited an uncomfortable age gap as the reason for her request, noting she was 30 years old while Jordan, who played Georgie Cooper, was 18 at the time. She expressed concern for Jordan’s comfort as well, stating, “I don’t know if Montana even knew if he could ask for that. Like, let’s give him the option, too.”

Director Alex Reid admitted the production “totally dropped the ball” by not providing a coordinator initially, explaining that the absence of explicit sex scenes led the team to overlook the need for support during romantic scenes. While a coordinator could not be arranged immediately for the specific day of her request, they were present for subsequent episodes as the characters' relationship progressed.
