Emily St. John Mandel releases new novel Exit Party
Author Emily St. John Mandel has released her latest novel, ‘Exit Party’, a work that continues to explore the interconnected themes and characters of her literary universe, often referred to by readers as the ‘Mandelverse’.
Set in a fractured United States in the year 2031, the narrative follows Ari Waker, who is released from prison in Los Angeles. The story blends elements of science fiction and crime fiction, tracing Ari’s evolution through a world where the nation has broken into disputed territories and social structures have blurred. The novel explores themes of chaos, identity, and the mundane nature of living through conflict, such as militia skirmishes and supply chain shortages.
Mandel, a dual Canadian-U.S. citizen, draws on her established style of combining ambitious, speculative plots with intimate character studies. She is currently working on adaptations for both ‘Last Night in Montreal’ and ‘Exit Party’.
