Emine Boyun funeral held in Istanbul under heavy security

The funeral of Emine Boyun, mother of Barış Boyun, was held at the Kasımpaşa Büyük Camii in Istanbul under heavy security. Barış Boyun, who is currently detained in Italy, was unable to attend the ceremony. Other family members, including his wife, sibling, and niece, are also reported to be in custody in Turkey.

During the service, several funeral wreaths drew attention due to the names and aliases inscribed on them. Some wreaths featured nicknames such as ‘Kosovalı’, ‘Sırbistanlı’, ‘Hayalet Ağıt’, ‘Siverekli Nedim’, and ‘Malatyalı Kenan’. Authorities are reportedly reviewing these names and their potential connections to ongoing criminal investigations involving organized crime groups.
