Emine Erdoğan addresses 6th Leaders' Spouses Summit via video
Emine Erdoğan participated in the 6th Leaders' Spouses Summit held in Kyiv, Ukraine, via a video message. In her address, she expressed gratitude to Olena Zelenska, the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for hosting the event.
Erdoğan highlighted the importance of social values, noting that Turkish society is built upon principles of volunteerism, philanthropy, and solidarity. She referenced the historical legacy of the Ottoman Empire, where over 26,000 foundations were established, describing it as a “foundation civilization” that provided support for the elderly, orphans, and those in debt.
She further remarked that while modern society often faces increasing loneliness and weakening social bonds, the traditions of Anatolia foster a sense of belonging and resilience. She emphasized that these values allow societies to face crises more effectively by maintaining strong human connections.
