Emirates Airline opens Busan branch to support direct flights

Emirates Airline has officially opened a new branch in Jung-gu, Busan, signaling potential cooperation to establish a direct flight route between Busan and Dubai. The opening ceremony was attended by officials from Busan City, the acting UAE Ambassador to South Korea, and representatives from the Busan Chamber of Commerce.

Busan City officials view this development as a starting point for a new aviation network connecting the region to the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. A direct route, spanning approximately 7,000 km, is expected to boost foreign tourism, facilitate international business, and support the global expansion of local companies.

To support the expansion of international networks at Gimhae Airport, Busan City is implementing administrative measures, including financial support of up to 2 billion won to help airlines mitigate initial losses on new routes. The city aims to diversify its flight paths beyond short-haul destinations in Japan and China to include strategic long-haul routes to locations such as Dubai, Turkey, and Los Angeles.
