Emirates launches U-Dream headrest for economy class worldwide

Emirates has become the first airline to introduce a world‑first U‑Dream headrest in its economy‑class cabins. The multi‑way adjustable headrest, developed with Safran Seats as part of the Z400 seat, features a padded leather shell, flexible side wings that fold inward to cradle the head and neck, and vertical and tilt adjustments to suit different passenger heights.

The headrest is being rolled out across Emirates’ fleet – it is already fitted on three Airbus A350 aircraft and will be installed on all A350s by the end of 2026. Retrofit programmes will add the U‑Dream to most Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s from 2027, while all 270 Boeing 777X aircraft on order will be delivered with the headrest pre‑installed. The design has been independently tested and certified to meet European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards.

Emirates President Sir Tim Clark says the U‑Dream “changes the game” for long‑haul economy travellers by providing full neck support, eliminating the need for separate travel pillows and enhancing sleep comfort. Cabin crews have been trained to assist passengers, and the headrest is cleaned after each flight.
