Emirates rolls out U‑Dream adjustable headrest for economy class

Emirates has launched the U‑Dream headrest, a leather‑covered, multi‑way adjustable support for the head and neck that it says is the first of its kind in economy class. The device folds flexible side wings inward to cradle the passenger, can be raised, lowered and tilted, and is designed to eliminate the need for separate neck pillows.

The headrest is being fitted on Emirates’ Airbus A350 fleet, with three aircraft already equipped, and is scheduled for all A350s by the end of 2026. It will also be installed on most Airbus A380s, Boeing 777s and the 270 Boeing 777X aircraft the airline has ordered, with broader rollout to those types beginning in 2027. The product, part of the Z400 seat by Safran Seats, meets European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards and can be easily cleaned between flights.

Passengers have responded positively on social media, praising the comfort and ease of adjustment. Emirates President Sir Tim Clark highlighted the innovation as a way to “significantly improve comfort for economy passengers, especially on long‑haul flights,” noting that the U‑Dream “changes the game if the person wants to sleep by supporting the neck in full.”
