Emirates sees record Nigerian summer travel and fare spikes to UAE

Emirates carried more than 44,000 passengers from Nigeria between 1 May and 31 August 2025, highlighting a growing appetite for international travel. The most visited destination was China, with 11,530 Nigerian travellers, followed by the United States (about 2,500), the United Kingdom (over 5,850) and Dubai (around 6,370). Guangzhou accounted for roughly 80 % of the Nigeria‑China traffic, while New York was the leading U.S. gateway.

A separate analysis of August ticket prices shows that fares to the UAE more than doubled on several South‑Asian routes by the end of the month. Bengaluru‑Dubai and Kochi‑Dubai tickets rose by over 100 %, and similar increases were seen on routes from Kozhikode and Hyderabad. In contrast, fares from Karachi, Lahore and New York remained stable or fell, and London fares varied depending on the service type. The surge reflects strong demand as residents return from summer holidays before schools reopen.
