Emirates SkyCargo expands South American air freight operations

Emirates SkyCargo has significantly expanded its air freight operations across South America, driving substantial growth in regional exports. Since March 2026, the airline has added seven weekly cargo frequencies to the region, including three dedicated services to Buenos Aires, one to Bogotá, two to São Paulo, and one to Quito.

In Argentina, the increased capacity contributed to a 57% year-on-year rise in exports during the first half of the 2026/27 fiscal year. The airline has transported approximately 5,000 tons of cargo from Argentina since April 2024, focusing on perishables such as meat, salmon, and fresh fruit.

Ecuador remains the largest export market for Emirates SkyCargo in South America, seeing a 14% increase in shipments during the first half of the 2026/27 fiscal year. The operation in Quito has expanded to six weekly frequencies, providing 600 tons of weekly export capacity. Flowers constitute over 90% of the cargo transported from Ecuador, connecting local growers to markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
