Emirates Skywards launches European rail ticket redemption

Emirates Skywards has introduced Skywards Rail, a service that lets members redeem frequent‑flyer miles for train travel across Europe. The platform gives access to more than 12,000 rail destinations in 12 countries and partners with over 40 operators, including Eurostar, Deutsche Bahn, SNCF, Trenitalia, TGV, Renfe, ÖBB and UK services such as Heathrow Express, Gatwick Express, Thameslink, Great Western Railway and ScotRail. Members can pay wholly with miles or combine cash and miles, and can also purchase tickets for family and friends. Mile requirements start at 4,100 Skywards miles for Berlin‑Frankfurt and go up to 9,400 miles for the London‑Paris high‑speed route, with other examples like Heathrow Express (4,700 miles), Barcelona‑Madrid (5,400 miles) and Rome‑Milan (8,100 miles). The service is available in five languages via the Skywards Rail website and mobile app, with electronic tickets sent by email. "Our members want more flexible ways to use their Skywards miles, and Skywards Rail is another step to expand the program beyond air travel," said Nejib Ben Khedher, senior vice‑president of Emirates Skywards.
