UAE celebrates Emirati Women’s Day with national events and economic milestones

The United Arab Emirates is celebrating Emirati Women’s Day, observed annually on August 28. This year’s month-long celebration, running from August 28 to September 28, 2026, follows the theme “We Emerge Stronger and Better.”

Economic and institutional milestones highlight the growing influence of women in the nation. On the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), nearly 125,000 active Emirati women hold shares valued at approximately AED 39 billion, representing 94 percent of the total value held by female investors on the exchange. In Dubai, the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) recognized female employees for their contributions to the economy and introduced a special category in its Excellence Awards.

Various forums and events are marking the occasion. The Emirati Women’s Forum 2026, organized by the Dubai Women Establishment, brings together ministers and experts to discuss leadership, AI, and education. Other celebrations include fitness events like the Ladies Run at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, retail campaigns spotlighting homegrown designers, and community dining offers.

The celebrations honor the legacy of leadership, particularly the efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” in institutionalizing women’s work and empowerment since the 1970s.
