Emircan İleri apprehended after escaping house arrest
Emircan İleri, an alleged mastermind in the murder of Ahmet Yılmaz, has been apprehended after escaping from house arrest by breaking his electronic monitoring bracelet.
The murder case dates back to 2008, when Ahmet Yılmaz, known as ‘Kirpi’, disappeared. In 2010, human remains were discovered near the Ulutan Dam in Zonguldak. Although DNA testing in 2012 confirmed the remains belonged to Yılmaz, the case was initially closed due to a lack of evidence suggesting murder.
The investigation was reopened following testimony from a defendant in a separate organized crime case. Prosecutors alleged that Yılmaz was strangled in a vehicle before his body was placed in a sack in a mine and subsequently thrown into the dam.
While several suspects were arrested or placed under house arrest, İleri escaped two months ago. Following a police operation, he was recaptured and brought to court facing charges of violating house arrest and damaging property.
