Emma Aicher secures third place in Sölden giant slalom

German skier Emma Aicher achieved a surprise podium finish, taking third place in the giant slalom during the Alpine Ski World Cup season opener in Sölden. This marks the first career podium for the 22-year-old in this specific discipline, which had previously been considered her weakest.

Aicher climbed from ninth place after the first run to secure her position on the podium. The race saw American skier Paula Moltzan take first place, while Lara Colturi, representing Albania, finished in the top three. Notably, the previous leader Mikaela Shiffrin dropped to seventh place during the second run.

In the men's competition, German skier Fabian Gratz secured a top-ten finish, placing sixth, which represents the second-best result of his career.
