Emma Cecala wins Rodolfo Sonego Award for screenplay

Sicilian screenwriter and director Emma Cecala has won the 18th edition of the Rodolfo Sonego Award for her screenplay, tentatively titled ‘L’ultimo harem’. The announcement was made on September 5 at the Hotel Excelsior in Venice during the Venice International Film Festival.

The project is set in Sicily in 1958, prior to the implementation of the Merlin Law, and takes place within a brothel. As the winner, Cecala will enter a six-month development program involving tutors and professionals to refine the script and facilitate networking within the film industry.
