Emma Delaney becomes first female CEO of OMV

Emma Delaney has officially assumed the role of CEO and Chair of the Board at OMV, effective September 1. As the first woman to lead the Austrian energy and chemical giant, her appointment marks a significant milestone for the company.

Delaney succeeds Alfred Stern, whose term concluded on August 31. She brings over 30 years of experience from BP, where she managed large-scale business units. Her mandate is expected to continue the strategic transformation of OMV, shifting focus from traditional oil and gas toward chemicals and the circular economy.

Her leadership also ends a 13-month period during which no women held CEO positions among the 20 companies in the Austrian Traded Index (ATX). Following the departure of Radka Doehring from CPI Europe AG in mid-2025, the ATX CEO circle had been exclusively male. Delaney currently stands as the sole female CEO within the index.
