Emma Heming Willis discusses caregiving for Bruce Willis

Emma Heming Willis has shared insights into her life as a full-time caregiver for her husband, actor Bruce Willis, following his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). In recent interviews, she described the emotional toll of the illness, noting that while she strives to remain strong for their daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, she has also experienced moments of profound vulnerability.

Heming Willis discussed the challenges of navigating guilt and the delicate balance of being honest with her children about the diagnosis while preserving their adolescence. She also highlighted the unity within their blended family, which includes Bruce’s older daughters—Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah—and his former wife, Demi Moore, all of whom have provided support during the progression of the disease.

As part of her efforts to support others in similar situations, Heming Willis has written a book titled ‘The Unexpected Journey’. The work aims to assist caregivers of loved ones with dementia by sharing her experiences of transforming the shock of the diagnosis into a mission of resilience and finding moments of joy despite the difficulties of the condition.
