Emma Heming Willis has provided updates on the family's experience navigating actor Bruce Willis’ diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Following his retirement from acting due to aphasia in 2022, his condition progressed to FTD in early 2023.

Emma Heming Willis described the family as being in a “constant state of grief” while emphasizing that their lives are not defined solely by the illness. She noted that despite the challenges, the family continues to find moments of joy and connection, stating that Bruce remains “really funny” and that they laugh with him rather than at him.

The actor currently receives 24/7 professional care, including living in a specialized home nearby to accommodate his needs. Emma also addressed public misconceptions regarding the disease, clarifying that FTD is distinct from Alzheimer’s and calling for more accurate media reporting to reduce the stigma and fear surrounding different types of dementia.
