Emma Raducanu faces potential extended hiatus due to injury
British tennis player Emma Raducanu may not return to competition until 2027 as she struggles with persistent physical issues. The 2021 US Open champion has been sidelined since the Queen’s Club final in June, having withdrawn from tournaments in Nottingham, Wimbledon, and the North American hard-court swing due to a fourth-degree stress fracture in her right leg.
Former British number one Annabel Croft suggested that ending the current season would not be a poor decision, emphasizing that prioritizing health and full recovery is essential. While a prolonged absence could lead to a significant drop in world rankings, Croft noted that Raducanu could potentially utilize a protected ranking upon her return. Raducanu, who previously reached the top 40, currently sits at 109 in the world rankings.
