British tennis player Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion and world No. 49, has announced she will miss the 2026 US Open after doctors confirmed a stress fracture in her right lower leg. The injury, first sustained during the grass‑court season, also forced her to pull out of Wimbledon earlier in June.

Raducanu’s 2026 season has been plagued by a series of setbacks: a pre‑season foot injury, a post‑viral illness that kept her off the tour for two and a half months, and the recent fracture that was aggravated by her run to the Queen’s Club final. She is currently rehabbing in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and has been seen training in a protective boot. The British team did not select her for the Billie Jean King Cup finals, and her ranking is expected to slip further.

The withdrawal removes a former Grand Slam champion from the final major of the year, ending hopes of a deep run in New York and highlighting the ongoing challenges she faces in returning to full fitness.
