Emma Raducanu urged by former coach to chase happiness for next Grand Slam

Former coach Mark Petchey told Emma Raducanu that she can win another Grand Slam if she focuses on happiness rather than ranking points and stops worrying about critics. Petchey, who first coached Raducanu as a teenager, said she should play “the ordinary in an extraordinary way” and enjoy the game, especially on grass, which he believes is her best surface. He helped her briefly this spring but will not take the role permanently due to other commitments. Raducanu, now back with original coach Andrew Richardson, is preparing for Wimbledon after a stop‑start season that included a post‑viral illness and a failure to progress beyond the fourth round of a major since her 2021 US Open title.
