Emmanouil Karalis sets Greek pole vault record in Zurich

At the Diamond League meeting in Zurich, Greek pole vaulter Emmanouil Karalis set a new Greek national record by clearing 6.20 meters. The performance marks a significant progression for Karalis, who has increased his national record by 28 centimeters over the last two years.

Armand Duplantis won the event with a jump of 6.25 meters. The competition was noted for its high level of rivalry, as both athletes attempted to challenge the world record. Karalis attempted to clear 6.32 meters, which is one centimeter above the current world record, though he was unsuccessful in his attempts.

Duplantis acknowledged the high level of competition, stating that Karalis’s performance was “amazing” and forced him to provide a maximum response to secure the victory.
