Armand Duplantis wins inaugural Ultimate Championship pole vault
Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis secured victory at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, clearing 6.20 meters to become the first champion of the new event. Duplantis attempted a world record height of 6.32 meters but was unsuccessful in his three attempts.
Greek athlete Emmanouil Karalis claimed second place with a successful vault at 6.15 meters. Karalis, who had a dramatic performance including a near-fall during his attempt at 6.05 meters, finished the season strongly. He also secured a significant prize of $75,000 for his runner-up position.
The competition, which features high prize money including $150,000 for the winner, saw other notable performances, such as Jakob Ingebrigtsen winning the men's 5,000 meters in 12:59.24.
