Emmanuel Adebayor influenced Marvin Senaya to choose Ghana
Former Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that he influenced defender Marvin Senaya to represent Ghana instead of Togo. Senaya, who is eligible for both nations, chose to join the Black Stars after receiving call-ups from both teams in March 2026.
Speaking to 3Sports, Adebayor explained that he advised the AJ Auxerre player to prioritize the opportunity to play in a major tournament. Adebayor noted that based on his own experience, having only played in one World Cup, he believed Senaya should seize the chance to play for a qualified nation like Ghana.
Senaya featured in all four of Ghana’s matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup before sustaining an injury during their Round of 32 match against Colombia. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a right leg injury.
