Fort de Brégançon hosts the Macrons' final summer presidency

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron are spending their final summer as President and First Lady at the Fort de Brégançon, a historic Mediterranean fortress in Bormes-les-Mimosas. The residence, which has served as an official presidential summer home since 1968, provides a private refuge for the couple during the final months of their second term.

While the fort offers a secluded setting, the couple remains subject to media attention. Recent reports have highlighted the contrast between the public visibility of the French President and the high level of privacy maintained by other leaders. The site has undergone various modernizations, including renovations to its kitchens and bathrooms, and the installation of a private pool to help shield the family from paparazzi.

To mark the site's historical importance, the Maison Élysée is hosting an exhibition in Paris from July 21 to August 29. The exhibition traces the fort's evolution from a medieval stronghold and strategic military site to its current role as a presidential residence, showcasing its history through various eras, including its time under Catherine de Médicis and Napoleon.
