Emmanuel Carrère discusses literature at Festival CulturaUNAM
French writer Emmanuel Carrère spoke before an audience of more than 600 people at the Sala Miguel Covarrubias during the Festival CulturaUNAM. During his presentation regarding his recent work, Koljós, Carrère reflected on the ethical boundaries of writing, stating that “literature is above everything, even the person who writes it.”
Carrère, a recipient of the Princess of Asturias Award for Letters and the FIL Award for Literature in Romance Languages, discussed the connection between personal experience and reader resonance. His body of work is noted for transitioning from classical fiction to a courageous “literature of the self,” including notable titles such as L'Adversaire and his biography of Philip K. Dick.
