Emmanuel Macron announces new autism and neurodevelopmental strategy
At the 7th National Disability Conference in Bobigny, President Emmanuel Macron announced a new national strategy for autism and neurodevelopmental disorders (TND) for the 2027-2032 period. The initiative, set to begin development by the end of this year, aims to improve early detection, strengthen support for adolescents and adults, and provide solutions for complex cases.
Reflecting on his tenure, Macron highlighted previous reforms such as the deconjugalization of the Disabled Adult Allowance (AAH) in 2023 and the full reimbursement of wheelchairs starting in December 2025. However, advocacy groups remain critical. Arnaud de Broca, president of the Handicaps collective, noted that while certain areas have seen progress, the fundamental quality of life for people with disabilities has not significantly improved over the last decade.
Despite these criticisms, the President expressed a commitment to working on disability policy until the end of his mandate, aiming to transition toward a more fully accessible society.
