Emmanuel Macron receives Montenegro's top state honor during Cetinje visit

French President Emmanuel Macron will be presented with Montenegro’s highest state decoration, the Order of Montenegro, by President Jakov Milatović in Cetinje. The ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow, will include a formal welcome, a media briefing and the planting of a “friendship tree” at the presidential residence.

The award is described as a recognition of Macron’s personal contribution to strengthening Montenegro‑France relations, support for Montenegro’s European integration, and a shared commitment to democratic values. It marks the first official visit of a French president to Montenegro, underscoring the historic and political importance of the bilateral partnership.
