Emmanuel Meafou commits to Stade Toulousain amid injury setback

Emmanuel Meafou has secured his long-term future with Stade Toulousain following intense competition from Stade Français. The Parisian club had reportedly made a significant advance in negotiations, nearly convincing the French international second-rower to join them. To prevent the loss of Meafou—especially following the announced departures of Thomas Ramos and François Cros—Toulouse had to make a substantial financial effort to finalize the deal.

However, Meafou faces a significant setback regarding his playing time. Following a match against RC Vannes, the player suffered a rupture of the lateral collateral ligament in his left knee. After undergoing surgery, Meafou is expected to be sidelined for two to three months.

This injury is a major blow not only to Stade Toulousain but also to the French national team (XV de France). France head coach Fabien Galthié expressed frustration over the incident, describing the tackle that caused the injury as “illegal” and calling for better player protection on the field.
