EMME and Millennium bim address receipt naming error in Maputo

The Maputo Municipal Mobility and Parking Company (EMME) and Millennium bim have addressed public concerns regarding the appearance of the name ‘CELCO SERVIÇOS’ on receipts for fines and parking fees.

Citizens had raised suspicions about the destination of public funds after payment terminals (POS) issued receipts under this name. EMME clarified that it has no contractual relationship with ‘CELCO SERVIÇOS’ and confirmed that all payments made via mobile wallets, such as M-Pesa and e-Mola, are deposited directly into the institution’s bank accounts.

Millennium bim attributed the issue to a technical error in the description configured for mobile wallet payments on Verifone terminals. The bank stated that the name on the receipt is merely a system processing reference and does not identify the actual beneficiary. The bank is currently working to update the terminal descriptions to ensure correct information is displayed.
