James Chase to reprise role as Tom King in Emmerdale
Actor James Chase is set to reprise his role as Tom King in the ITV soap Emmerdale later this year. The character, previously involved in a long-running domestic abuse storyline, is returning to the village after being up for parole.
In previous storylines, Tom King exerted coercive control and physical abuse over his wife, Belle Dingle (played by Eden Taylor-Draper), which ultimately led to his conviction and a three-year prison sentence. His return is expected to force Belle to confront past traumas as she attempts to protect herself and her family from his potential manipulation.
Producer Laura Shaw stated that the return is intended to “reignite a complex and challenging story” regarding the lasting impact of abuse. Chase noted that the character is driven by “obsession and a desperate need for control.”
