Emmerdale's Charity Dingle assaulted by Dr Caitlin Todd in new storyline

Emmerdale has confirmed that upcoming episodes will depict Dr Caitlin Todd sexually assaulting Charity Dingle. The assault, scheduled to air from Sunday 7 June, is part of a blackmail plot in which Todd pressures Charity over a secret about baby Leyla’s parentage. Producer Sophie Roper said the storyline will explore the impact of sexual violence, especially female‑on‑female assault, and the isolation survivors may feel. Actress Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, called the plot one of the most demanding of her career and hopes it will encourage victims to speak out.

The storyline also marks a turning point for the character of Dr Todd, with reports that actress Caroline Harker may exit the soap after the arc concludes. Emmerdale will broadcast the scenes on ITV1 at 8 pm and stream them on ITVX.
