Emmersdorf Volunteer Fire Department celebrates 100th anniversary

The Emmersdorf Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Founded in 1926, the department held a formal ceremony featuring musical entertainment to mark a century of service to the community.

Mayor Christian Scheider, acting as the fire department official, honored the members for their long-standing responsibility and camaraderie. The department currently consists of 27 active members, including seven women.

The organization shows strong prospects for the future with a robust youth division of 20 members, 12 of whom are girls. Notably, an all-female youth group from the Emmersdorf department recently achieved fourth place in the Bronze competition at the Carinthian State Championships, marking a first for an all-female group in the Klagenfurt-Stadt district.
