Emotional management training for educators in Ecuador and Uruguay

Educational institutions in Ecuador and Uruguay are emphasizing the importance of emotional management and mental health training for educators to improve institutional efficiency and personal wellbeing.

In Ecuador, the emotional management of teachers in Higher Education Institutions (IES) is identified as a fundamental pillar for preventing stress and improving coexistence within the academic community. Effective emotional intelligence among university leaders and faculty is linked to better decision-making and the ability to regulate negative emotions, which in turn fosters a more diverse and healthy work environment.

In Uruguay, the Ministry of Education's School Wellbeing Sub-directorate conducted training sessions for teachers at the Universidad Provincial de Oficios (UPrO) in Villa Mercedes. Led by psychologist Camila Galetti, the program focused on helping educators recognize, understand, and manage emotions. The training addressed the high self-demands placed on teachers that can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion, providing tools to strengthen interpersonal bonds and promote healthy coexistence in schools.
