Emova Pop electric microcar to launch in Brazil by 2027
The Emova Pop, a compact two-seater electric vehicle, is set for a Brazilian launch in early 2027. Based on the FAW Pony microcar from China, the model is expected to be priced between R$ 65,000 and R$ 75,000. Assembly will take place in Jaguaré, Espírito Santo. While the manufacturer claims an autonomy of up to 200 km, experts suggest real-world urban usage may result in approximately 150 km per charge. The vehicle will be classified as a heavy quadricycle (L7e category) with a total weight of up to 600 kg.
In terms of operational costs, electric vehicles offer significant savings compared to internal combustion engines in Brazil. Data from Grupo Saga indicates that traveling 100 km in an electric vehicle using residential charging costs approximately R$ 15. In comparison, the same distance costs roughly R$ 53 using ethanol and R$ 65 using gasoline, assuming a consumption rate of 10 km per liter. This represents a potential cost reduction of up to 77% compared to gasoline.
