Emperor and Empress arrive in Aichi for Asian Games

The Emperor and Empress of Japan have arrived in Aichi Prefecture to attend the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games. After departing from Haneda Airport via special aircraft, the Imperial couple was greeted by Aichi Governor Omura at Chubu Centrair International Airport.

During the opening ceremony held at a stadium in Nagoya, the Emperor is scheduled to deliver the opening declaration. Also in attendance will be Crown Prince Akishino, who serves as the honorary president of the games, and Princess Kiko.

The two-day visit includes several scheduled activities for the following day, such as watching a women’s basketball qualifying match between Japan and Kazakhstan and visiting Ghibli Park to view exhibits inspired by the film ‘Spirited Away’.
