Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visit Ghibli Park

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visited Ghibli Park in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, during a two-day visit to the region. The imperial couple toured the Ghibli Grand Warehouse section, which features artwork, production displays, and recreations of iconic scenes from Studio Ghibli films.

During the visit, the Emperor and Empress interacted with local kindergarten students in the area dedicated to ‘My Neighbor Totoro’. They also visited the section inspired by ‘Spirited Away’, where the Emperor requested an aide to take a photograph of the couple with the character No Face.

The couple was guided through the park by Goro Miyazaki, the son of Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki, who is responsible for the park’s design and operations.
