Employees Provident Fund investment income rises 48% in H1 2026
The Employees Provident Fund (KWSP) reported a 48 percent year-on-year increase in investment income for the first half of 2026, reaching RM57.5 billion compared to RM38.92 billion in the same period last year.
In the second quarter of 2026, investment income rose 44 percent to RM29.77 billion. This growth was largely driven by a 52 percent increase in equity income, which reached RM20.94 billion, supported by strong global equity markets and confidence in artificial intelligence cycles.
KWSP CEO Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn noted that the figures include unrealized gains and losses resulting from foreign exchange fluctuations. Consequently, these unrealized amounts cannot be distributed as dividends. Due to high geopolitical risks, the fund has lowered its investment income expectations for the second half of the year. As of June 30, 2026, total investment assets stood at RM1.54 trillion, with 39 percent allocated to overseas investments.
