Employer leader Rainer Dulger calls AfD a danger to Germany's economic location

Employer association president Rainer Dulger, head of the Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Arbeitgeberverbände (BDA), said the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) threatens Germany’s business climate. In a video interview he cited the party’s programme as "Anti‑EU, Anti‑Euro, pro‑Russia" and warned that "AfD is a danger for Germany". Dulger argued that only centrist parties can provide solutions to the country’s economic challenges.

BDI chief executive Tanja Gönner backed the critique, labeling the AfD "no economic party" whose policies would not foster growth or investment and would create new uncertainties. She singled out the AfD’s state‑level programme for Saxony‑Anhalt, where a solo AfD government is seen as possible in the September elections, and said such a scenario would undermine the country’s location advantage.

Both business leaders called for the party to be excluded from future governing coalitions, emphasizing the need for stability and pro‑business policies.
