Employment initiatives launched in Sonora and Bogotá

In Sonora, Mexico, Deputy Iris Fernández Sánchez Chiu has proposed a legislative initiative to provide tax incentives for companies that hire or rehire female heads of household. The proposal seeks to reform the State Tax Law and the Law for the Protection of Female Heads of Household, suggesting that payroll taxes be waived for these specific hires. Notably, the incentive would apply to existing positions, not just newly created roles, to facilitate formal employment and social security for mothers who are the sole providers for their children.

In Bogotá, Colombia, the National Training Service (SENA) has announced the ‘Expo Empleo SENA 2026’. The job fair, scheduled for October 22, aims to connect job seekers with 6,000 vacancies across sectors such as customer service, logistics, transport, gastronomy, and entertainment. Monthly salaries for the available positions range from 2.4 million to 7 million Colombian pesos.
