Employment regulations and holiday calendars in Romania

The Bistrița-Năsăud County Agency for Employment (AJOFM) has reminded employers of their legal obligations regarding job vacancies. Under Law no. 76/2002, employers must report all vacant positions within five working days and notify the agency within one day once a position is filled. Additionally, if an individual receiving unemployment benefits is hired, the employer must report this within three days. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in fines ranging from 3,000 to 10,000 lei.

Regarding the 2027 calendar, Romanian employees will have 17 legal holidays, though eight of these fall on weekends. While holidays such as Union Day, Labor Day, and Christmas fall on Saturdays or Sundays, employees can utilize specific leave patterns to create extended breaks during periods like Easter, Children's Day, and the end of the year.
