Employment trends vary across León and Soria provinces

In the third quarter of 2026, the province of León saw a 5.8% year-on-year increase in employment, reaching 186,200 workers. This growth, driven largely by the service sector, exceeds both the national average of 2.1% and the Castilla y León average of 0.7%. However, the quarterly unemployment rate in León rose to 9.27%, a 0.43 percentage point increase from the previous quarter, though it remains 1.68 points lower than the same period in 2025.

In contrast, Soria reported significant improvements in its labor market. According to the Labor Force Survey, the province added 2,700 workers compared to the previous quarter, bringing the total number of employed persons to 43,300. The unemployment rate in Soria fell to approximately 5.4% or 5.5%, making it one of the lowest in Spain, surpassed only by Guipúzcoa. While the active population in Soria grew by 2,400 people this quarter, local business organizations have called for measures to address job vacancies within the productive sector.
