Empower's JBH plant receives LEED Gold certification

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has announced that its Jumeirah Beach Hills (JBH) District Cooling Plant has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the US Green Building Council. The certification recognizes the facility's compliance with international standards for energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental design.

This achievement aligns with the United Arab Emirates' Net Zero 2050 ambitions and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. Empower CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar stated that the company integrates green building standards into its infrastructure development to support Dubai's sustainable urban growth and resource efficiency.

In the broader context of the region, LEED certification—including LEED Operations and Maintenance (O+M) for existing buildings—is becoming a strategic necessity in Dubai. Such certifications help organizations reduce operational costs, improve indoor environmental quality, and align with local regulatory frameworks like the Dubai Green Building Regulations.
