Awarapan 2 crosses Rs 100 crore mark in India
Emraan Hashmi’s romantic-action thriller, Awarapan 2, has achieved significant box office success, becoming the actor’s first solo film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in India. Released on August 14, 2026, the sequel to the 2007 cult classic has maintained strong momentum through the Independence Day weekend and its first week of release.
By its fifth day, the film’s domestic net collection reached approximately Rs 100.75 crore, with worldwide earnings exceeding Rs 144 crore. The film has outperformed competing releases, such as Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, and has surpassed the lifetime earnings of the original Awarapan within hours of its debut.
While critics have offered mixed reviews, noting a lack of narrative depth despite nostalgic appeal, the film has been credited with a successful comeback for actress Disha Patani. Following this commercial success, producer Vishesh Bhatt has confirmed that development is underway for Jannat 3. Additionally, Emraan Hashmi is set to star in the action-romance Gunmaaster G9, scheduled for release on November 27, 2026.
